The Birth Of The Lawyer 2.0

What happens when AI can increasingly answer “What does the law say?”

The more important question becomes. “What should I do?”

That is where I believe the Lawyer 2.0 will emerge. The future lawyer will not simply be Lawyer + AI. The real transformation will be the ability to combine law, technology, business, strategy, psychology, data, ethics and human judgment to help clients make consequential decisions under uncertainty.

AI can process knowledge. Lawyers must provide judgment.

My prediction is simple. The most valuable lawyers of the future will not necessarily know the most law. They will know how to turn law, information and complexity into better decisions. That is the Human Edge.

And perhaps the question every young lawyer should be asking today is. If machines increasingly know the law, what will make you indispensable?

My latest article explores that question.
