Most young lawyers spend their early years trying not to make mistakes.

I did the same. Ironically, the mistakes that shape your career are rarely dramatic courtroom or boardroom blunders. They’re quieter. Respectable. Even socially approved. Looking back at my first 6 years in law, these four lessons changed how I think about professional success. Sometimes the real career risk isn’t failure. It’s becoming comfortable too early.
